Work On Campus:
In order work on campus or off campus is specially for international students provided that they have a valid study permit to work without work permit.
On-campus work is the work location will be inside your educational institute . And the employer may be a college/university itself that may give you a job in one of it’s various faculty like library, bookstore, student center, etc or in restaurants ; etc.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Have a valid study permit
- Enrolled as full time student at a Designated Learning Institute
- Has a valid SIN number
The international students can only work as a part-time worker at campus or anywhere as they are allowed to work only for 20 hours in a week .
Work Off Campus:
If eligible , the full time student may work for 20 hours a week without a work permit outside the campus and can work full time in academic breaks without a work permit. If the program doesn’t provide academic break than the student have to work for 20 hours only. As there are no legal limitations stopping students from working on-campus in addition to working the limit of 20 hours per week off campus.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Have a valid study permit
- Enrolled as full time student at a Designated Learning Institute
- Has a valid SIN number
- Program is at least 6 months or more in length and lead to a certificate , diploma or degree.
The student is not eligible to work off campus if:
- The student is an exchange or visiting student
- Student is studying in a program – English or French as second language
- Student is studying a general interest program
The must have Social Insurance Number (SIN number) to work that will only be issued if the study permit states that the individual is allowed to work on or off campus if not than firstly get the study permit updated with it before applying for getting the SIN number.
